When Power Abuses, the People Respond
The warning signs are impossible to ignore. This week, a judge ordered the release of a mother and five children held in ICE detention for nearly a year amid reported medical neglect, even as other detainees remained jailed after judges ordered their release. New reporting also showed Dreamers still being deported, deaths in custody rising as ICE discloses less, private partners profiting from detention, and families and children enduring fear, neglect, and arbitrary detention. These are not isolated stories. They are connected warnings about secrecy, cruelty, and an immigration system treating due process and human dignity as disposable.
But this is not the end of the story. Communities are organizing. Advocates are rising. Truth is breaking through. And people across this country are refusing to surrender their rights, their dignity, or their democracy. Power still belongs to the people — and together, we can protect our communities and each other.

Being ordered free should mean freedom. Instead, this report shows ICE detainees still being held while judges grow furious and federal courts are flooded with emergency habeas petitions just to challenge detention. When the government cages people after the courts say stop, it is not justice. It is contempt for due process and human rights.
